The Abu Dhabi Police has announced eight requirements drivers need to adhere to while for their safety, 

while delivering food to customers.

The Directorate of Traffic and Patrols stated that these requirements come as a continuation of its efforts to familiarise drivers of delivery bikes with traffic safety rules, 

avoid traffic accidents, their causes, effects and losses resulting from them, and enhance safety for this category of road users.

She also emphasised the continuation of her efforts to educate this group about the basics of traffic safety, 

and to introduce traffic regulations and laws that must be followed on the road, safety requirements for driving a motorcycle, and avoiding traffic accidents.

New rules for food delivery in Abu Dhabi

As per the latest requirements, the external dimensions of the food delivery box must be 50 centimetres in width, length and height.

The edges of the box must be covered with a phosphorescent reflector, and must not have any edges with sharp corners.

The authority also noted that the delivery box must have clear identification writing at a distance of 20 metres.

The front hatch for opening the box must be provides and it must be made with fiberglass. 

It must also be fixed securely to facilitate its opening.

In addition, the delivery box must be mounted on a bike seat or a rear saddle. 

The delivery box must also include the chassis base number printed on it. This is identical to the base number of the bike’s ownership, the authority said.
